“We’d rather pay teachers than lawyers.”
Words from the school board president after he was forced to ask the students to not recite the Lord’s prayer. In an interview before the ceremony, one student talked about her frustration with the change, saying that her class had so much to offer she didn’t want them to become known as simply the class that ended the tradition.
Old habits die hard though as the students took a stand for their faith and their tradition and chose to sing it anyways.
During the valedictorians speech he paused, raised his hands to which the entire graduating class stood to say the Lord’s prayer. A standing ovation broke out right after everyone said, “Amen.”
A powerful example of standing boldly with Christ through persecution!
